Spring break and spring cut
According to the intersection angle between the macroscopic orientation of the cross-section and the maximum normal stress, the fracture mode can be further divided into two types: spring normal fracture type and spring cut type
1. Spring positive fracture, where the orientation of the macroscopic cross-section is perpendicular to the maximum normal stress, is commonly found in situations where cleavage fracture or deformation constraints are significant, such as fracture under plane strain conditions
2. Spring cutting type fracture, where the orientation of the macroscopic cross-section is consistent with the direction of the maximum shear stress, but at an angle of approximately 450 with the maximum normal stress, often occurs in situations where slip deformation is not constrained or less constrained, such as tearing under flat stress conditions
